Product Details

Soft rotis begin here, in the wide brass thali every Indian kitchen once had.

The paraat is where the dough gets its texture, and this one gives you the room to do it properly. Hand-hammered from 100% pure brass by thatheras, the craft community behind India's only UNESCO-listed metalworking tradition, it has a broad flat base and high hipped walls, so flour stays in the vessel while you knead instead of scattering across the counter. The Large size measures 14 inches across, enough to work dough for a full family meal in one go.

The wide flat surface lets you press, fold and turn the dough with your whole palm, which is what builds the smooth, evenly worked texture that soft rotis, parathas and puris depend on. It is just as useful beyond kneading. Mix batters, toss besan and vegetables for pakoras, coat sweets during festival cooking, wash and sort dal and rice, or use it as a serving platter for a community-style meal.

There is no PTFE, no PFOA, no lead, and no synthetic coating anywhere in this paraat. It is uncoated pure brass, the way these vessels have always been made. Ayurveda values brass for its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and its role in supporting digestion and nutrient retention.

The warm golden hue and hand-hammered detailing make it as much a kitchen-to-table piece as a prep vessel. Rated 4.9 out of 5 across 97 reviews.

Care and Use

  • Wash with mild soap and a soft sponge. Avoid steel wool and abrasive cleaners
  • Dry thoroughly after every wash to prevent watermarks
  • Brass oxidises naturally over time and develops a darker patina. This is normal and does not affect safety or performance
  • Restore shine using P•TAL x Happi Planet de-oxidising solution, or a homemade scrub of atta, salt and lemon
  • Avoid leaving wet dough or acidic mixtures sitting in the paraat for long periods
  • Store dry in a cupboard to slow down natural tarnishing

Warranty and Support

  • Warranty: Lifetime warranty, built to outlast a lifetime of use
  • Coverage: Manufacturing and craftsmanship defects in the brass body
  • Not Covered: Natural oxidation and tarnishing, which is normal and can be restored with the de-oxidising solution, along with dents from misuse and damage from abrasive cleaning
  • Note on Handcrafted Products: Slight variation in weight, size, and finish is characteristic of handmade cookware and is not a defect
  • Support: WhatsApp expert chat and live video call shopping available on the product page
